Electromagnetic therapy is a type of alternative therapy which uses electromagnetic energy to treat a disease. Electromagnetic therapy is also being used as an alternative therapy for treating cancer. Electromagnetic therapy is also called as bioelectricity, magnetic field therapy, electromagnetism and magnetic healing.
Unlike conventional methods or the drug-based treatments, electromagnetic therapy has minimum side effects. In this treatment the proponent uses magnetic, electrical, infrared and microwave devices for treating the illness.
How Does Electromagnetic Therapy Works on the Body?
Magnetic and electric energy are already present in the body. Electromagnetic therapist believes that an imbalance is created in the electromagnetic field present in the body. This imbalance of the electromagnetic field disturbs the chemical makeup of the body hence results into disease or illness. So the practitioner tries to regain that balance of the electromagnetic field by applying external energy.
Benefits of Electromagnetic Therapy:
Electromagnetic therapy is highly beneficial in relieving from body pain, headaches, inflammation and other discomforts. Research has shown that electromagnetic therapy is effective in relieving from severe migraine pain. Electromagnetic therapy enhances the healing process of an injury. An external electromagnetic field increases the blood flow in the surrounding connective tissue by relaxing the capillaries. Now-a-days electromagnetic therapy is also being used as an alternative therapy for cancer treatment.
Side-Effects of Electromagnetic Therapy
Electromagnetic therapy is a drug-free and noninvasive form of treatment. The possibilities of side-effects are negligible but still the most commonly observed side-effect is skin rash. Even this skin rash develops because of the adhesive used for the attachment of the device to the body.
Note: Patients using defibrillator or cardiac pacemaker should avoid electromagnetic therapy. Before switching to this therapy you need to consult your physician. And the therapy should be done under the guidance of a trained therapist.
