Therapeutic Magnets are source of small magnetic fields. Mostly they are constructed of rubber impregnated with magnetic material and induce static low- level magnetic field. Such magnetic field has strength of approximately .01 T (1000G) .
Many medical professionals, collegiate, and recreational athletes use such magnets. These magnets increase temperature of body and thus the blood flow. They are effective as thermal modality. Manufacturers of these magnets claim that this product has the ability to creep deep inside the tissue more easily and safety as compared to ultrasound or diathermy. If such claims are true then there should be noticeable change in body temperature on magnet application.
Although it is suggested that therapeutic magnets increase the body temperature to penetrate deep: this is not experimentally proved yet.
